🤯 Mind-Blowing
The era of hydrogen-fueled vehicles is set to commence with the introduction of a 2-liter car engine capable of running entirely on hydrogen. A new technological innovation enables the direct injection of hydrogen into the cylinders, resembling the operation of an internal combustion engine.
Researchers have engineered E. coli to produce electricity from wastewater. Surprisingly, this organism outperformed even some renowned and exotic electricity-producing microbes when it came to converting organic waste into electricity.
Scientists have taken the initial stride toward thawing quantum computing. The magnets employed in this breakthrough are not crafted from rare Earth materials; instead, they exhibit magnetism 100 times more potent than iron and remain operational at room temperature.
Neuromorphic computing holds the potential to pave the way for self-learning machines. These innovative physics-based machines might replace existing artificial neural networks and offer energy-saving benefits.
H2FLY and its collaborators have achieved a historic milestone by successfully conducting the world's first piloted flight of a liquid hydrogen-powered electric aircraft. The 'HY4' demonstrator aircraft, powered by hydrogen-electric technology, took off from Maribor, Slovenia, and demonstrated safe and efficient operation during numerous flight tests.
Scientists have pioneered the most resilient method currently available for manipulating individual qubits. This breakthrough offers precise control over qubits through a novel quantum computing approach. Rather than creating their own qubits, the research team harnessed naturally occurring ones and concentrated on techniques to govern them.
🔊 Industry Insights & Updates
The dream of wireless energy transmission is inching closer to reality, thanks to DARPA. DARPA is now embarking on the initial phase of the Persistent Optical Wireless Energy Relay (POWER) program, with the goal of fundamentally transforming energy distribution through aerial wireless power transfer.
Microsoft's AI activities in 2022 amounted to a staggering 1.7 billion gallons of water, surpassing the volume of over 2,500 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Researchers project that ChatGPT consumes around 500 milliliters of water, which is close to the amount in a 16-ounce water bottle, for every series of 5 to 50 prompts or questions.
Tesla's stock soars following Morgan Stanley's prediction that the Dojo supercomputer could potentially inject an additional $500 billion into the company's market value. The firm believes that Dojo has the potential to expedite the growth and profitability of Tesla's software and service division.
Meta is actively working on an AI model with superior capabilities compared to LLaMa 2. This forthcoming AI is projected to outshine Meta's existing LLaMa 2, and there are indications that it may become available as early as next year. Its overarching goal is to enable other companies to build text-generation services of remarkable sophistication.
🧬 BioTech
Chinese scientists have introduced a gene editing tool that surpasses CRISPR in capability. This groundbreaking tool possesses the unique ability to perform strand-specific gene editing without making any cuts.
Redwire Corporation has made an exciting announcement, revealing the successful 3D bioprinting of the first human knee meniscus in space. This significant achievement paves the way for enhanced treatments for meniscal injuries, a prevalent issue among U.S. Service Members.
Researchers have discovered that patients' own lung cells possess the potential to treat severe respiratory diseases. They grew progenitor cells in a laboratory using the patients' original cells and then reintroduced these cells back into the lungs of individuals with COPD. This technique successfully reversed the previously irreversible lung damage caused by COPD.
